After breakfast we will explore Kutaisi, capital of Imereti and one of the oldest cities in Georgia. Our tour will include visit to Bagrati Cathedral, a reconstructed monument of 11th century which is seated on top of a hill overlooking the entire town. We will stop by Okros Chardakhi, a residence of Imereti kings featured by a centuries old plane tree, Kutaisi Holy Annunciation temple, and by Synagogu. Having seen the city, we will leave it and head to Gelati Academy, built by King David the Builder in the 12th century. Gelati was the center of spiritual and scientific life of the Middle Ages, the tomb of Georgian kings and an important place for pilgrims. It is under UNESCO protection as an object of cultural and historical legacy.
